Cathy Bonk, MD

Catherine is a Board Certified OB/GYN practicing in Atlanta for over 20 years. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the Emory University Medical School, she is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, current Treasurer of the Georgia OB/GYN Society and recent Past-Chair of her hospital’s OB/GYN Department as well as the mother of two children. She enjoys caring for women from preconception through labor/delivery and throughout their motherhood years. She wishes she had utilized a doula through her labors and values the support that all of their services offer.

Brad Bootstaylor, MD

Brad is a board certified OB/GYN and Perinatologist.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the National Medical Association, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  Brad currently is the founder, owner and operator of See Baby, a fetal ultrasound imaging company at Emory Midtown University Hospital. Recently, he was awarded an adjunct professorship at the Emory School of Medicine OB/GYN.

Kathy has been a community based counselor since 2006 and an international board certified lactation consultant since 2010.  She graduated Magna cum Laude from University of Georgia and currently serves on the board of SELCA.  When a mom needs in-home lacatation support or a reassurance visit, Kathy offers her knowledge and expertise to those women on a regular basis.

Christine Carr, RN, MSN

Christine has been working with infants and their families for more than 24 years, primarily in the Neonatal ICU setting. She founded the company 'Baby Care Connection' in 2010 to educate parents of infants in the home after discharge from the hospital. She initiated collaboration between The Hope Center and First Baptist Church-Woodstock, and is now teaching parenting skills to young parents.  She also is a Clinical Educator at Kennesaw State University and works at a medically fragile day center.  She is a mother of three young adults.

Carolyn is a National Board Certified Counselor who specializes in the treatment of anxiety and postpartum mood issues. She has certification in many different modalities and offers counseling via SKYPE, chat and email as well as in person. She teaches a class called Mindful Grandparenting. She is also a Harvard research assistant and the mother of four.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Georgia State University in Spanish as well as current CAPPA Certifications in Postpartum Doula Care, Labor Doula Care and Childbirth Education. Gwynne is also pursuing her CAPPA certification in Lactation Education.  Gwynne has been serving the greater Atlanta area as a birth professional since 1999.

Jennifer Shu, MD, FAAP

Jennifer is a practicing pediatrician and author in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Shu is co-author of “Heading Home with Your Newborn” and “Food Fights.” A frequent guest on national and local television, radio and web-based programs, she is medical editor-in-chief of HealthyChildren, is the Living Well health expert for CNN, contributes medical information to WebMD and serves on the Parents magazine advisory board. Dr. Shu completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California in San Francisco. She received her medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Virginia.

Robert Truax, DC

Dr. Truax was born and raised in New York State and graduated from S.U.N.Y. Delhi’s College of Technology.  He moved to Georgia to attend Life University, School of Chiropractic, where he was President of his class and served in the roles of Instructor, Treasurer and President of the largest chiropractic technique club.  He received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree (magna cum laude) in 1998, and has since received extensive post-graduate training in the fields of chiropractic, nutrition, whole food and herbal supplements, weight loss and purification.  Over his 15 years in practice, Dr. Truax has provided both corrective and wellness chiropractic care for a wide range of clients including infants, children, adults, expectant moms, amateur and professional athletes.  Dr. Truax believes in empowering individuals to make informed decisions regarding their health and is extremely passionate about helping people improve their well-being and the quality of their lives.

Anjli Aurora-Hinman, CNM, FNP-BC, MPH

Anjli has made it her mission to improve healthcare and quality of life across the globe.  As a midwife, volunteer and activist, she focuses her energies on a range of issues including women’s rights, HIV/AIDS prevention and policy, childhood obesity prevention, breastfeeding advocacy and awareness, increasing access to birth options and midwifery care, access to care for the uninsured and underinsured and addressing critical health disparities.  She holds bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan, in Biology and Women’s Studies, and a Masters in Public Health from Boston University.  She was a Woodruff Fellow and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2008 from Emory University’s Nurse-Midwifery and Family Nurse Practitioner Program.  She currently practices at Intown Midwifery, with privileges at Atlanta Medical Center, and is also a co-founder of Atlanta Birth Center, leading a movement of volunteers and community supporters to open Atlanta’s only birth center.

Marc Tanenbaum, MD

Marc Tanenbaum is a pediatrician with over thirty years’ experience in general pediatrics.  He is currently North Atlanta’s only full-time house-call pediatrician, and he teaches "Ask a Pediatrician" workshop.  Dr. Tanenbaum earned his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his medical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania.  He performed his residency and training at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts.  Dr. Tanenbaum has three children, three dogs and one cat, and has been married to his wonderful wife for over forty years.  In his spare time, he enjoys science fiction, sailing and cooking.

Julie Duncan, RN, CCE, CLC

Julie Duncan is a registered nurse with more than 25 years in the field of nursing education and consulting.  She has been an associate faculty member at Emory School of  Nursing and a Perinatal Educator and Consultant at Piedmont Hospital.  Julie has created and facilitated discussion groups for new mothers and fathers, and grandparents.  She has been active in public speaking, television and radio appearances, video production and publication of numerous articles on family issues.  Julie now serves as Perinatal Educator and Consultant for Atlanta Women’s Healthcare Specialists, a group of 24 physicians.  Julie has three children, twin 9 year-old grandchildren, and a two year old granddaughter.
